The goal
Get your cart from the start to the end of the course without falling off or wrecking it. The whole track floats in the sky, so the edge is the main enemy. You can go through it alone or share one cart with a friend.

How the grapple hook works
Your cart has a rope winch bolted to the front with a hook on the end. When the track stops at a gap, you fire the hook at a bar or anchor above or ahead of you, and the rope swings or pulls the cart across. In the official artwork the hook grabs overhead metal bars, and the lava-cave art shows it catching the cave ceiling.
- Slow down before the gap (solo cart: tap BRAKE) so you aren't flung past the anchor.
- Fire the hook with E or the hook button as soon as the anchor is in reach.
- Let the rope carry you, then land back on the track and get ready for the next one.
Timing matters more than speed. Arriving too fast is the most common way carts get flung off.
Solo cart vs 2-player cart
Solo (1 PLAYER): your own cart with a BRAKE button. Best for learning each section.
2 PLAYER: two players share one cart. One player drives while the other works the hook, so you need to talk to each other. The shared cart has no brake button, which makes edges without fences much harder. Decide who calls the hook before you start.
Areas and hazards
The course moves through different areas:
- Plains. The grassy first area, where you learn the hook.
- Desert. Sand tracks with cacti. Touching a cactus damages your cart.
- Lava cave. Shown in the official artwork: a rope swing across a lava pit.
Hazards that show up along the way:
- Cacti and red obstacles damage your cart. Take enough hits and parts like wheels and boards fall off.
- Flame spikes stand on some tracks (they're in the official screenshots).
- Rocks can shove your cart sideways off the track. Go slowly through them.
- Edges with no fence. Some sections end in a drop with nothing to stop you, so brake early.
- Other players. Anyone can push or ram your cart, and some players do it on purpose.
Tips to stop falling off
- Go slow through rocks and narrow bits. Speed is what throws you into the void.
- Go fast when the game tells you to. Some ramps have signs asking for speed, and you won't clear them rolling slowly.
- Brake before unfenced ends. In the 2-player cart you can't, so arrive slowly instead.
- Repair before a hard section. If your cart is losing parts, 5 coins for Repair Cart is cheaper than restarting.
- Skip only when truly stuck. Skip Stage costs 35 coins, seven times a repair.
- Keep your distance from other carts. Other players can push or ram you, and near an edge that's all it takes.
FAQ
What button is the grapple hook on PC?
E. The game shows the prompt 'Press E to grapple hook'. On mobile it's the round hook button on the right.
How do you brake in the 2-player cart?
You can't. The shared 2-player cart has no brake button, unlike the solo cart. Slow down by agreeing on when to use the hook and go gently near edges.
What does Repair Cart do?
It fixes a damaged cart for 5 coins. Cacti and red obstacles knock parts like wheels off your cart, so repair before a hard section.
Can you skip a stage in Grapple Cart Obby?
Yes. The Skip Stage button in the top bar skips the current stage for 35 coins.
Do you need Robux to finish?
No. The game is free and you can clear the course with the free cart. Game passes only add extra carts and Infinite Revives.
